Sustainability
Quality Materials. Sustainable Process.
Choosy. Meticulous. Uncompromising. When it comes to our materials and manufacturing, these all apply. We start with the highest quality materials, like organic cotton that is dyed with low-impact dyes. Our certified organic cotton is grown on farms in the Southern U.S. by farmers we actually know. After harvest, our cotton travels to the Carolinas where it is spun and dyed before arriving at our mill in Alabama.
We knit socks in very small batches at our family owned and operated mill. Our team of ten (including Mom and Dad) run the manufacturing process from start to finish. And, because our entire operation is under one roof, we're able to constantly monitor quality through each step of the process, minimize waste and deliver a stellar product. We do it all because we know a better process makes a better sock.
We like to keep it all close to home. Our packaging, labels and marketing materials are printed within a small radius of our mill in Alabama and Georgia.
Giving and Recycling. Our irregular socks are donated to homelessness shelters and community organizations in Alabama.
We have some socks that are not fit for donations. These, along with any manufacturing waste, are repurposed or recycled. When recycled, these are transformed into fiber used for carpet padding in the automotive industry.
We can recycle your old socks too! For more info, please see ourzkano Recycles page.

Care instructions
(General Care Instructions & Our Advice on How to take care of your socks)
Your zkano’s should last a long time. Here’s a few things we suggest to help them reach their intended lifespan.
We highly recommend sticking to our washing instructions for our organic cotton and merino wool socks.
Machine wash cold water
Wash inside out for best results
Tumble dry on low heat
Do not bleach
Do not iron or dry clean
Additional suggestions for increasing the lifespan of your organic cotton and wool socks:
How to reduce pilling
Pilling with cotton is normal, especially in products made with a high combed cotton content, such as our socks. To reduce this, we recommend a few easy steps. This is good advice for our wool socks as well.
Wash separately. Do not wash your socks with towels or other rough items (for example, zippers) that will agitate the soft fibers in the wash cycle.
Turn inside out to wash and dry.
Placing your socks in a mesh laundry bag will also help with this.
Bleaching is a no.
Never (ever) bleach your socks, y’all- even if they are solid white. Using bleach on cotton or wool socks will cause the fibers to break down, resulting in holes in your socks.
Drying
To keep your socks feeling soft and to avoid unintended shrinkage over time, do not dry them in a hot dryer.
Using a low temperature setting in the dryer is best for your socks.
Do not over dry them. This will reduce their softness and zap them of their vibrant colors over time.
Though it’s not necessary, our favorite way is line drying, especially our no show and anklet styles. This helps prevent pilling too.
Don’t wear outside without shoes
Natural fibers, such as cotton and wool, will not hold up to being worn on rough outdoor surfaces.
Keep nails trimmed
This will keep those annoying holes from forming in the toe of the socks.

Excellent socks: the right thickness; the right length. Mostly cotton, so they feel great, too. American made and quick delivery. But, we must wait to see how well they hold up over time.
Love these simple, comfy socks, also really appreciate that they are pesticide free organic when regular Cotton contains so many pesticides. Thank you Zkano I buy from you every year for Christmas gifts - everyone in the family gets a new pair of socks - and this one was just for me!
Comfortable and thick. Not like those thin things made in China. I’m very happy to support your company. I’m glad you’re making these socks here in the United States. Thank you!
These are great socks, but I can't emphasize enough how important it is to me that they are made in the USA, by American workers, with American cotton.
Have search a long time to find quality American made socks. After purchasing my first pair I was hooked. I'm a loyal consumer and appreciate the level of care you put into each pair of socks
These socks are cushioned and comfortable. They breathe really well and can be worn walking for significant periods (I’ve hiked several hours in them) without getting really wet.
My daughter is 5'11, and her husband is 6'6 inches. I always ordered the large size for gifts for them. Not long ago, my daughter giggled and said that her husband gave her his socks because they were always too small for him. I said, WHAT??? So, I have ordered the extra-large black socks for him for a Christmas gift, and we will see if he likes them. I know he will love them because they are wonderful socks!
I have owned Bombas for years and LOVED them even though I knew they weren’t organic cotton. But I had this nagging thought to replace them and that was challenging to do, until I found these socks! Best socks EVER and I will never go back. Thanks for making an incredible organic sock for health conscious folks 🙏🏻👊🏻🙌🏻
Ever since I switched to these USA made socks I’ve noticed my feet are healthier and a bonus is that they are better made and do not produce holes as fast as Nike which are just as costly so these are a better deal in the end. Supports our own economy and small businesses.
These are a christmas gift for my son who is in the Navy. He needed black socks with nothing on them. They feel like quality socks. I love that they are American made. I hope he loves them so I can support your business even more in the future.
We bought these for our two boys. We are seeking to make small steps towards having "a little less" toxins in our life as well as a conviction to begin buying things as locally as possible, emphasizing small businesses when we can. We were excited to try out zkano socks and we have been impressed with the quality and durability of the socks so far. Our boys love them. We love that these black socks do NOT leave trails of black fuz around our house like the previous "big box" store brands. Thank you!
I bought my husband three pair of the black aspires socks after his Costco sock got holes after a few short months. It was apparent right away that these socks were going to last a lot longer. He thinks they are comfortable but does wish that the top of the sock was a little tighter because he wears them with work boots.
These socks fit my feet great! The design of them must be perfect because they hug from the toes on up through the foot and leg. Most name brand socks have yet to tackle the problem of the front of the sock, where the stitching bundles at the top, when I put my feet into shoes. These socks passed that test. And these socks do not make my feet itch, like most popular name brands do, because of the excess polyester and other garbage ingredients in them. Worth every extra dollar to go the extra mile with these in my book!
Well pleased with these and the others I purchased. Bought two different styles as first purchase from this company. Love that they're made in my home state by a family business. The Aspires are a thinner sock that will likely serve me well in summer heat. I will be getting more! I like everything about this company and want to support them as much as possible. I can't believe I'd never heard of them until the article in Alabama Living. I will gladly pay for a quality American made product and I hope this business continues to flourish.
I've tried a lot of expensive 100% cotton socks hoping to find a comfortable and durable sock that I could compost when I was done with it. In my research and testing, such a thing doesn't exist. At least not for my feet and lifestyle. I made the compromise for a mostly organic cotton sock from what appears to be a very conscious and creative company (Zkano) and I've never looked back. These socks are comfortable and hold up to significant abuse. Not to mention the sustainability and overall ethics of a truly American made organic product. Thank you to all the folks at Zkano!
My husband and I have been fans of zkano socks for a number of years. We like the thickness and durability. Eventually they wear out, but all socks do. Then we'll be back for more! Made in USA - yay!
A little context to start, I am VERY picky about the articles of clothing that I buy. Not only do I buy clothes to last, I also want them to be made responsibly. When I found a sock company (Zkano) that makes clothes in the USA, I was intrigued and bought my first 5 pairs of these socks, not knowing how long they would last. Imagine my delight when they lasted me four years of continuous wear. Not only that, but they remained incredibly soft and comfortable for that whole time! So I am back to purchase more. See you in another four years.
